How I can help:
Why I can help
Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. I understand how overwhelming it can feel to revisit and talk about the difficult experiences, relationships, and emotions that we typically try to push to aside. I also know how incredibly life-changing it can be. My drive for building meaningful and real connections with my clients is largely motivated by my own failed attempts to connect with a therapist when I was growing up. That experience taught me true healing can only happen in safe and supportive environments, built on honesty, authenticity and laughter.
Who I am as a therapist is largely shaped by my background and personal experience. Growing up I was surrounded by a variety of unique relationships, and always felt a deep sensitivity to the energies of those around me. My younger self always had a desire to advocate and listen to people (and animals) who felt unheard. Over the years I lost touch with my passion and stumbled into a career that wasn’t aligned with my inner calling. After working in a toxic and chaotic work environment, I finally reached a breaking point that inspired me to change careers. My journey to become a therapist gave me the opportunity to work with teens and young adults that were dealing with the same struggles in identity, self-confidence, and direction that I once did. This passion fuels my ability to build authentic connections with each of my clients, while my specialization in experiential treatments supports meaningful, lasting change.
As I mentioned earlier, I have always felt a deep connection to both humans and animals. I deeply believe in the healing power of animals, so it is important to me that my therapeutic approach reflect that connection. My mini-bernedoodle, named Stevie (she/her) joins me in every session to lend her calm and grounding energy (after she greets you with tail-wagging excitement, of course).
“When we come to understand the parts of ourselves that are hurt or scared, we can begin to heal from our past wounds.” - Richard Schwartz
I am passionate about helping children, teens and young adults process past traumatic experiences through a variety of treatment methods. I’ve found that pairing deeper processing modalities like brainspotting and IFS-informed therapy, with hands-on approaches like expressive arts therapy and animal assisted therapy, fosters effective long-lasting change. Research shows us the many different and unique ways our bodies process traumatic experiences, which is why I strongly believe therapy should be tailored to the individual. I work closely with my clients to identify their goals for treatment and the modalities they resonate with to tailor a treatment plan that works best for them.
